BISHS Attendance Policy

International students are expected to maintain 100% attendance unless there is an illness.  Medical certificates are required if international students are ill for more than two days in a row.  Medical certificates must be provided to the school within five days of an absence.

As required by the Australian Department of Immigration, Bribie Island SHS keeps records of international student attendance.  A consecutive written warning system is in place if attendance falls below 95%, 90%, and 85%.  If attendance falls below 80%, the law requires us to inform EQI and the Department of Immigration.  This can lead to the cancellation of a student visa and result in the sudden return to the student’s home country.  Absences therefore must be minimised.

Homestay parents are required to notify the school by phone on 3400 2460 or email the absentee line if their international student is going to be away sick.
