AARAs
Access
Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) are designed by the Queensland
Curriculum Assessment Authority (QCAA) to assist students in Year 11 and 12 who
have a disability, impairment, and/or medical condition, or experience other
circumstances that may be a barrier to their performance in assessment.
Should you feel your child requires an AARA please view the AARA folder on our Documents page.
An AARA application must be completed if your student is
seeking access arrangements and/or reasonable adjustments to assessment pieces
in Year 11 and/or Year 12. AARAs are school-based applications in Unit 1
and Unit 2, and QCAA based applications and decisions for Unit 3 and Unit 4.
Decisions about a student's
AARA eligibility are based on evidence, and considered individually. Students
continue working on assessments while decisions are made. All tasks need to be
completed but some conditions of the assessment will be modified. Extensions of
time need to be negotiated before the due date of an assessment task.
Supporting documentation must be supplied with an AARA
application. The supporting documentation that is required is dependent on the
individual reasoning for the AARA application. The application and
supporting medical documentation template (if required) are available from the
School’s website.
