Sport at Bribie Island SHS has a role beyond developing healthy habits.

Participation in sport provides young people with an opportunity to apply their interpersonal skills in leadership, collaboration and problem solving which are skills for the 21st century.

Bribie Island SHS students are fortunate to have the opportunity to participate in the following sports:

  • Rugby League
  • Netball
  • Futsal
  • Touch Football
  • AFL
  • Volleyball

Coaches at Bribie Island SHS are volunteer teachers who have at least a level One Coaching certification level. Most coaches have higher qualifications and have coached representative teams at regional and state level. Students receive the very best level of coaching available in schools.

Students can still apply to trial for the full range of school representative sports, however students are expected to play sport for the school if it is offered.

In order to qualify to play sport for the school students are expected to meet behavioural, uniform and academic standards. Students can be withdrawn from the sport program for failing to meet standards.

Each Term, students in years 7, 8, & 9 have the opportunity to participate in the South East Queensland Secondary Schools Gala Day competition. Students can compete in Volleyball, AFL 9's Oztag, Indoor Soccer, Basketball, Netball, Football and Touch
